Description
General John Bruce Medaris speaks to the Melrose Hotel Executive Club about the future of the United State's space program. Medaris states that if the US had any ambition to further the space program past the lunar landing, then the planning would have had to start in the year 1966. He stresses the need to "bring the public aboard NASA." This is to provide the legislative support needed to further explore space and move on to Mars. A more reasonable goal would be to start a lunar colony, and Medaris states that Americans need to continue the space program. The key goal is to present the public with an understandable objective. The main opposition to furthering the space program is that the government cannot make a decision. If this indecision continues, the lead time that it would take to start up the space program again would increase the cost to an almost unreasonable point.
