Description

Edmund Skellings wrote a poem called "Listening" for poet William Meredith, who had suffered a stroke and had difficulty speaking. "Listening" refers to Meredith's poem, "The Open Sea", and other poems as well as to Richard Harteis who helped Meredith regain his speech. Listening was read by Harteis at Meredith's 80th birthday celebration at the Kravis Center, Palm Beach, Florida. It was also read by Skellings to Meredith when they appeared together at the Florida Atlantic University Honors College, Jupiter, Florida.
